The automated scale works in combination with glass containers fitted with RFID chips (radio frequency identification). These chips help keep track of substance identity, amount and so forth. The user fills the containers and the dispenser can then aliquot amounts of 0.5 to 220 milligrams in 15 to 60 seconds per sample. There are two types of heads, one capable of 75 dispensing events and another capable of 250. All of the information from each event is stored in the chip of the head and can be transferred to a computer as an XML-file.
