How to get the most out of the fair
- Find out as much as possible before you even arrive at the fair venue. Try to limit yourself and prioritize. Put the most important companies first in your schedule, giving you space to reschedule, if necessary.
- The best starting point for planning your day is online. Visit the websites www.biotechforum.org and www.scanlab.nu, and browse the sites thoroughly.
- Check out the seminar program, and plan your appointments to avoid double-booking. Try to pick out the exhibitors that you are most interested in so that you have the time you need for a quality visit.
- One of the most effective ways of ruining a perfectly good day is to wear bad shoes. The shoes you normally wear in the office might not be the best choice for a day at a fair. The floors are hard and you should play it safe.
- Lugging around a heavy bag is not a good idea either. Use the storage cabins available, so you don’t have to carry it all day.
- Don’t be tempted to hoard printed material, or give-aways, just because they are for free. Be selective!
- Be sure to hand out your own business cards generously! Use the flip side of the business cards you receive, to make notes about your meetings. This may be very helpful, to sort out the nuggets of gold out of the vast amounts of post-fair rubble.
- In general it is a very good idea to take notes wherever you go, even after casual meetings. The representative you meet at the fair is often merely a door-opener. Ask him or her for names, for the one you should get in touch with for later follow-ups.
- Make mind maps of future possibilities and what you discussed during the brief meeting at the fair. Rest assured: you will not be able to remember it all after the fair.
- The blood sugar will dictate how you feel , and your ability to think during the day. One of the most basic and effective things that you can do is to keep your blood sugar stable, by having regular meals.
