Biovigilant’s IMD-A instruments
employ an optical technology to continuously sample the air and immediately warn when microbial contamination is detected. The system is presented at Scanlab+Biotech Forum by Miclev AB and allows for screening of biological particles as small as 0.5 micrometers. A continuous stream of real-time data enables constant monitoring and trending that could prevent small excursions from leading to the loss of a whole batch. The level of monitoring is higher than conventional growth-based methods which normally delay results for five to seven days. The system occupies 25 by 41 centimeters of counter space and weighs less than 15 kilograms making it portable and flexible to use in different environments. The instrument is delivered complete with a camera, a notebook computer and analysis and control software. www.biovigilant.com.
