Focusing on Medicon Valley
Copenhagen Capacity and Invest in Skåne are hosting a seminar to promote the geographical area known as Medicon Valley. Some of the 350 life science companies from there will give short presentations to attract partners and investors.
On Tuesday 10-13 Invest in Skåne and Copenhagen Capacity will arrange a seminar to promote the Medicon Valley region. A number of companies from the region will also be introducing themselves.
– Since Biotech Forum takes place in Copenhagen this year, we think it a perfect opportunity to present the Medicon Valley region and introduce some innovative companies from southern Sweden and the Copenhagen area, says Anna Chérouvrier Hansson, Life Science coordinator at Invest in Skåne.
Since its creation a fast-paced development has been taking place, and today Medicon Valley comprises a dense cluster of universities, hospitals and companies within life science, many of which are R&D-based. The almost century-long presence of a number of research-intensive and fully integrated pharmaceutical companies, such as Novo Nordisk, Lundbeck, Astrazeneca and Leo Pharma, have contributed significantly to the development of the region by strengthening abilities within applied research, attracting suppliers and producing spin-offs. In the mid-1990s the public authorities and the life science industry in Copenhagen and southern Sweden agreed to market the region internationally and to strive for a common goal: To be the most attractive bioregion in Europe.
As an example , the two investment promotion companies from each side of The Sound (Öresund) present the website mediconvalley.com. Here, information can be found on business opportunities in Medicon Valley, as well as the possibility to search for R&D partners, new technologies and investment options.
– We have in-depth knowledge of the biotech, pharmaceutical, and medtech industries, company pipelines and partnering opportunities in Medicon Valley. We can help you to establish a legal entity for maximizing your business opportunities, says Anna Chérouvrier Hansson.
– We hope that potential partners and investors will come to listen and thus get in contact with the companies, says Anna Chérouvrier Hansson.
