This is Sweden's largest life science region

About 60 percent of all jobs within swedish life science are found in the Stockholm-Uppsala area. This was stated in a report presented at Scanlab & Biotech Forum today.
"Facts and figures on Sweden's number one Life Science Region" is the first baseline analysis made by life science Stockholm-Uppsala region and Strängnäs. The report shows that there are over 570 life science companies with over 23 000 employees in the region, representing 60 percent of employment opportunities in Swedish life science companies. There are companies in all sub-sectors of life science in the area where pharamceuticals is the largest, followed by medtech, biotech tools and supply, diagnostics and CRO. The majority of employees are working with product development and maufacturing.



The purpose of
the report is to be used as a basis for analyzing the companies that are in the region and what needs they have to grow. Several projects are now under way to boost business and innovation in the region.



"Another important aim of the survey is to show the world what assets are available here and that we are an attractive region to establish themselves in," said Madeleine Neil at Uppsala Bio.
