Fewer visitors but satisfied exhibitors

Biotech Forum Scanlab attracted fewer visitors than in 2008. Exhibition manager Bo Rasmussen is content, claiming that the exhibitors are very satisfied.
Approximately 4 500 visitors passed through the gates at the fair this year. It is 1 500 fewer visitors than when it was organized in 2008 in Copenhagen. The main reason for the drop in visitors is, according to Bo Rasmussen, that the Biotech Forum part has attracted less people than in 2008. The fair was co-arranged with a Nano-Tech Fair two years ago, which may also have contributed to the drop in participants. The number of Scanlab-related visitors is pretty much intact, due to these circumstances, according to Bo Rasmussen.

Another reason for the reduced number of visitors may be that some companies simply do not allow staff to attend trade fairs. Danish biotech company Novozymes employees are not allowed to spend more than three hours at the fair.

“I think there are less people making decisions on purchases today, thus some companies may be more reluctant to release their staff, "says Bo Rasmussen.

The exhibitors seem to be satisfied however. The majority of visitors that Biotech Sweden has talked to claim that the fair has functioned well. Some even claim that visitors are more result oriented and of higher quality than before.

“There is definitely confidence in the fair among the exhibitors. There are already pre-orders for 2012”, says Bo Rasmussen.
